Pompeii was buried in volcanic ash so quickly that it preserved people exactly as they were at the time. The bodies decomposed leaving perfect molds that were then filled with plaster when excavated.

Amazing device. The earth is in the center, very tiny, and the rings represent the position of stars and celestial bodies. I believe this was used for navigation until the telescope was invented.
